On the Road in Rhinelander

This Sunday was our first deputation service as a family.  Saturday morning we packed up the kids and headed 2 1/2 hours northwest (which turned into three hours after kiddie bathroom stops) to Rhinelander, WI.  Hodag Country!  The hodag is Rhinelander's equivalent to the Loch Ness, and everyone's got Hodag pride.  The kids were excited to spot four of the city's famed mythical creatures while we were there!  Even if they were only statues.

More exciting than the Hodag, though, was spending Sunday at Faith Baptist Church under the shepherding of Pastor Mark Ring.  Our family was overwhelmed with the genuine love and support from the people of Faith Baptist.  The church began there only six or seven years ago, so some of the members mentioned reliving their baby church experience as they listened to Andy's presentation.  Andy preached both services, and the Rings provided an afternoon meal with playtime for the kids and rest and conversation for us.  Our family of six actually had to turn down two other offers for the afternoon from this generous congregation!

We arrived home late Sunday night (after a few kiddie stops), exhausted but encouraged; and thankful for our new friends in Rhinelander, WI.
